VFSix

VFSix

VFSix is the brightest figure in Moscow's trip-hop culture. The mood VFSix expresses in their music can be described as “the soundtrack to Moscow's melancholy.”

Sensual female vocals, broken rhythms, and smooth saxophone sounds blend into the styles of trip-hop, dark side pop, and nu-jazz and soul. The musicians say they consider contemporary culture, from Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe to Miles Davis and Frank Zappa, to guide their work.

VFSix created their first album at a time when the word "trip-hop" wasn't as commonly used in Russia as it is today. Today, the group is considered the face of local trip-hop, although upon first hearing VFSix's music, you wouldn't guess they're from Russia.

Victor is the project's producer, composer, and virtuoso bassist, using progressive six-string guitar techniques (creating the sensation of two or three guitars). He also organized the Intellect Deep Music festival and NuNote Lounge Fest 2006.

Fannie, with her soulful vocals, is the winner of the "Young Voices of Russia" and "Stars of the 21st Century" competitions and the main lyricist.
