Hitomitoi
Hitomitoi (一十三十一) was born as Hitomi Shimomura (下村 一十三) in 1978 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. Debuting in 2002 with her airy, coquettish vocals on 360°, she has released a series of conceptual original albums since then.
The music of the band incorporates various genres (including soul, jazz, and funk), and is sometimes also described as modern city pop revival. Hitomi calls Tatsuro Yamashita (山下 達郎) the artist who influenced her the most. She actively performs on the local scene, composes music for commercials, produces the female idol band Neggico, and also sings as the lead vocalist in the neo-doo-wop project Jinatana & Emeralds.
The album City Dive (2012) was highly acclaimed by local critics, as was Surfbank Social Club, released in 2013.
