Felix Lahuti is the laureate of the 2002 Triumph Youth Prize. He is the only musician in Russia who plays the five-string electric violin, a vocalist, composer, and arranger. He graduated from the pop department of the Gnessin College in 1993. Since then, he has recorded several albums, and has collaborated with leading figures in the music industry, including Jean-Luc Ponty and musicians from Louis Armstrong's Harlem Blues & Jazz Band, Keshab Kanti Chowdhury's Gandhar project from India and Andrey Mongush from the Republic of Tuva. Felix has also worked with Russian DJs such as Groove and Finist.
In late 2003, Felix Lahuti founded the group Funky Land, which included top Moscow funk musicians from iconic bands such as Alexey Kozlov's Arsenal, Vyacheslav Gorsky's Quadro, and others. The group's repertoire includes Felix's compositions and original versions of funk hits with elements of southern and eastern ethnic music, soul, hip-hop, acid jazz, jungle, and disco.
Felix Lahuti has performed at numerous international festivals and concerts in Moscow, as well as in various cities across Russia, France, Germany, Finland, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. He has performed at the Rossiya Central Concert Hall, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, as well as on leading TV channels.
Felix is currently involved in the jazz fusion project UniverSoul, which brings together some of the best soul music exponents. The project performs concerts and also organizes soul festivals of the same name with various special guests — famous and emerging soul artists. Felix is also the bandleader of the jazz trio Ornament, a member of a trio with DJ Anatoly Ice and singer-flutist Iskra, performing funk, soul, and jazz. He is also a member of the all-star ArtBeat Project, performing jazz-rock and fusion with influences from soul, funk, hard bop, and free jazz.
