Chiefs Band
Chiefs Band is a one-of-a-kind, rousing, and mind-blowing Belarusian bulba-funk orchestra led by Alexander Myshkevich.
“Black people invented jazz and blues, and we have invented ‘bulbian’ funk-o-jazz. They worked on corn and cotton plantations, and we worked on potato fields," is how Alexander explains the origins of the band's musical style.
Chiefs Band is a unique form of musical cuisine. The main features of its creative formula are incredible expression, fantastic drive, and insane energy! The ensemble's creative credo is original jazz-funk — energetically and professionally performed. The band's musical language is the multifaceted improvisation of the saxophone, bold trumpet and melodic trombone, spirited bass guitar, rhythmic drums, and harmonious vocals.
In the spring of 2012, the Chiefs Band released their debut album, Jazz Pirates, after meticulously working on it for a year. "If anyone buys or downloads our record and thinks it's traditional jazz, we warn you — it's not! This isn't intellectual jazz, it's jazz-o-joke! After all, we call ourselves jazz-funk hooligans!" says the band's frontman, Alexander Myshkevich, about the album.
